1967: a new political identity called Asian American emerges and a young literary hippie named Frank essays an inscrutable Chinese detective. A harmless sing-song orientalist minstrel show unfolds into a grotesque carnival of murder!
At once both comedic and political, Lloyd Suh’s play within a play delves into the history and politics of yellowface with a keen eye, dark humor, and a sharp wit. The New York Times calls the show "a metatheatrical polemic about the way Asian-Americans have been characterized and caricatured in popular culture." PRODUCTION STAFF

SPRING: CENTRIFUGE: STORIES OF REFUGEES & DISPLACEMENT
2017-2018 AATP Intern Project | Co-Produced with JUST ART: Stanford Artist/Activist Collective & Casa Zapata
CENTRIFUGE brings together three stories of displaced people in and from Palestine and Syria, unaccompanied minors from Central America, and refugees from Vietnam. The stories are woven and juxtaposed to highlight each story's unique narrative of uncertainty and survival, and to throw into stark relief the systemic dehumanization of migrants at the hands of the state and by its citizens.
The 2017-2018 AATP interns helped produce an excerpt of VIETGONE by Qui Nguyen for CENTRIFUGE. VIETGONE tells the love story between two Vietnam War refugees as they learn how to navigate the bizarre cultural landscape of the U.S. in the 1970s.
