F. O. B. by david henry hwang - february 2010
David Henry Hwang's 1980 Obie Award-winning play FOB returned to AATP, where David Henry Hwang originally conceived of and workshopped it while he was an undergraduate at Stanford, in 2010. FOB contrasts the experiences of Asians who are "fresh off the boat" in America and Asian-Americans who have become established in the US. FOB was produced in conjunction with an AATP alumni panel featuring David Henry Hwang '79, Hope Nakamura '82, Nancy Takahashi Hatamiya '81, and Lisa Pan '81 and a discussion of the play lead by Professor David Palumbo-Liu.

In this original student-written play by Kolby Hanson, four college seniors are on the verge of the rest of their lives. As Darren's fiancée Annie is lost in her career possibilities, he questions his love, his friendships, and his picket fence life. Against the best wisdom of his best friend Sam, he falls for a girl with too many problems to count. With his future spread in front of him, he must figure out, for the first time, what he really wants.
